maybe if you're driving a 10k shitter sure, but if its your pride and joy with sentimental value or is a big dollar item, it represents pretty damn good value.

Its all about the risk and who takes it.

For $2,500 you can go out there and not worry about having an off in your $70k car.

It becomes part of the cost of your track day.

The alternative is the risk of being big dollars out of pocket like the unlucky guy in the evo.

Like it has been said before if you can afford to lose the value of your car and you cant afford the insurance for a track day you cant afford to track it.

You don't have to drive at ten tenths to enjoy track time.

Yes, but sometimes things just happen not as you'd like (at any speed).

My last crash a few years back was at 40km's an hour - cant stop the chick that backs into your back door and quarter when you have no where to go. Not that she'd be on the track (hopefully).

Agreed, there is an element of risk (as expected), but im quite certain the percentile of those having an off when they're in 'total' control is greatly reduced. Im not disagreeing with you, at the same time I dont want to scare those who are looking at doing some off street time from even considering it.

If you are doing that through turn one you are driving one slow piece of shit!!! I can do it on the X box but real life didnt seem to work. But agreed it is a balls out corner. And the double apex and blind exit of southern loop can catch you out if you give it the beans too early... Lookin forward to another crack at it next month...

Spot on. Track with a sensible approach, is by far the safest place to explore the limits of your car and your talent!!

Agreed but red mist is a wonderful thing. If you see someone in front of you and try and catch them etc your "i'll only be going 9 tenths" goes straight out of the window.

There is risk associated with tracks and what you are doing.

AHG Skid Pan = Very low risk
AHG Long Track = More speed, more risk
Wanneroo / Collie = More speed again, more risk
Multiple cars on the track = More risk

When moving up from having fun at the skid pan to timed events there is more risk, but you can lower that risk by driving within your limits and not going flat out, but rather going out to have fun.
