you will find private torrent sites are alot more locked down and highly administrated to protect against users that do not seed and also torrents that are fakes (i have never downloaded a torrent from a private site that is a fake or the qaulity is not there)

another thing to remember with movies is you are not going to get the movies in the cinema at dvd qaulity because its not out on DVD! you will get screeners and TS qaulity meaning that it has been recorded in the cinema using a camera of some sort so just wait and get a DVDRip or a Bluray rip if you have 5+ gig of bandwidth to blow.

you will only be able to download something as fast as your connection allows (160kbps) and this is very achievable using private trackers whereas public trackers work on a seed/leech speed ratio meaning if you limit your upload speed your download speed will also be affected.

PS i would not pay to be a member of that site.

R5 and DVDscr releases are worth downloading as well. i normally just stay away from CAM and TS.

I havent got a problem with sharing, but logging on/using usernames etc. doesnt it put one in danger of getting chased/prosecuted etc?

thats always a risk i guess. ip address logging blah blah. private site torrent trackers are https (ssl) which i guess gives you peace of mind, encrypted traffic and all that. but yeah its how safe you feel.

jump onto Mininova to find torrent.

I only use eztv for tv shows and axxo for movies.

and make sure you dont get a fake 'axxo' or 'eztv' as there are millions out there.

use Vuze to download it hey presto.. entire season of lipstick jungle is at my disposal... wooo haha

Have used Mininova + utorrent + peer guardian for the odd thing (mainly TV stuff) and found it wasnt too bad. I just get a bit scared when multinational companies are logged in my PG window...

Sorry Pimp I actually didnt look at the site u mentioned and just assumed u were looking at torrents.

$39.95 for 2 years of unlimited movie download seems a bit off to me. No way I can see that they could have any recent movies available and I find it a bit dodgy that you cant see any of what they have to offer without signing up. But who am I to question the legitimacy of the site.

I have what i would call a limited knowledge of how downloads work but I'm pretty sure of these few things....

Even with a direct site like this you wont be able to just click and watch, you will still have to wait for it to download. Also the speed which it downloads is effected by ur own download speed and u dont have a very fast connection so you would still be looking at an hour at best I would think probly more. This site looks like its a USA site so the distance to the server (or whatever they call the place that is sending out the information) I would assume is in the USA so this will make it take longer as it has to come from further away.

If you are just wanting to download legal movies from a safe and legal site you can try bigpond and the like but they are only really like a rental you dont get to keep the movie. If you do want that, use an aussie one so that you are downloading from an aussie server.

If ur wanting to download movies to keep and burn etc then torrents is the way to go. IMO you would be better off spending ur $39.95 to pay someone to set u up, with a good torrent downloading program and do all ur port forwarding etc for you and show you how to do it, than you would be spending it on a site like that.

yeah i wouldnt pay any site anything.

For quality, download things that have been released by a scene group (i.e. is tagged with a group name at the end) as there is are release conduct rules to be maintained.

Check places like nforce.nl to read the .nfo files which tell you about the release (and to check if the release has been nuked - i.e. its crap or propered - i.e. someone has released a better version)

Anyone downloading from anywhere is at risk of being prosecuted, but the risk diminishes the more 'private' you go.

i.e. High risk to lower risk
Public site/torrent site/pay site (ugh pay sites should be taken down instantly)
Large private torrent site
Small private torrent site
