Default telecomms tech question

Does anyone know if I were to run a fax for my business on Optus does it need a 'special' phoneline?
The reason I ask is that I'm interested in the $99 business fusion with unlimited phonecalls which I plan to run my fax on.
The dumbasses at Optus reckon I need a dedicated fax line , as faxes are not 'compatible'with the Optus line. Thing is, I have the same $99 fusion plan at home and I can send/receive faxes fine.
I posted the same question at Whirlpool with not 1 answer, almost every thread there is a whinge of some kind.

any techs here know?

Why get a dedicated fax line? Telstra can supply a 'pseudo' fax number to you, so when a fax is sent to that DDI, Telstra convert it into an email and push it to an address of your choosing.

It's just the sending part which would be a problem .. If it's just to recieve, the above solution works good. We run these services at work.

I need to send and receive faxes
This line will be used for send/receive faxes as well as phonecalls. I am with Hellstra currently but phonecalls interstate and to mobiles are costing $$$. That's why I'm keen on the fusion plan with unlimited calls

The inlaws have 2 numbers on the 1 line.
when someone rings the fax line (or faxes the fax line rather) it rings a different distinctive ring. Most fax machines can be set to only answer this type of ring.

Hope that helps slightly

Optus Fusion is a ULL connection.

Your phone it removed from the Telstra Copper Network.

Optus cant provide all the same features that telstra can.

Its a big pain to move from Optus ULL back to PSTN as well.

Technically its still on Telstras copper network and part of the PSTN, it just gets redirected through optus gear at the exchange end.
