Hey all

My mum got herself a Ilve fully integrated dishwasher.

It looks basic enough to install except that the kitchen bench top is too high for the dishwasher. Even with the legs fully adjusted the unit is only 10mm short. Bench top is standard height of 900mm

What does anyone suggest?

I am thinking of buying a MDF panel 20mm and sitting it on that. I don’t know if its allowed but how else would I get the required height?

Any thoughts would be great.

Dont use MDF. It will expand when watr touches it and make a nice little mess of everything. Maybe use a solid wood like pine etc?

Probably better with a trim panel between the top of the D/W and underside of bench...that's what I'm palnning for my GF's...

go to a local cabinet maker and get apiece of 32mm HMR chip board (it will have a green tinge)to put underneath. Make sure it is in line with the back of the plinth (kick board) so you can install the new plinth over the top. unless it floods then you won't have a problem. This is the standard practice for 90% of all kitchen companies in WA.

Yes I am a cabinetmaker by trade and yes I know what I am talking about. Not in the trade anymore so no I can't get some for you.

Do not do as Nauli suggested as the door will then not line up with the others. If it is FULLY integrated you can raise the door to be above the controls on top of the DW also.

Watch the overhang on the bottom of the door as it will not open if it hangs down to low.

DO NOT use solid timber as if it gets wet it will swell more than chipboard or MDF.

Let me get this correct, the dishwasher is integrated underneath a kitchen benchtop ?
And there is a gap 10mm (1cm) between the top of the dishwasher and the underside of the bench ?

If thats the case why does it even matter as you will not see the top of the dishwasher anyway, let alone the 1cm gap ??????

Confuzzled completely.
Mine was a piece of piss to install, even with a 5mm gap - I still cannot see it under the bench.

the fully intergrated ones needs you to screw two philips wood screws in to the kitchen bench top so the top of my DW needs to sit flush with the bench top. This stops the DW from falling over when you open it. Fully intergrated DW's do not have weights in it so if you open the door it could tip over hence the screws

use hmr but even that swells and breaks down if directly exposed to water until saturation. make sure d/w doesnt leak = easiest.

Not too sure about this fact. I have never seen any trees swell when left in the rain. How can a solid piece of say jarrah or pine swell more then chipboard, even if it is HMR. The biggest mis-conception is that chip board is water proof. It is only water resistance just like a lot of watches.

get the floor made higher under it. either half brick cement and re tile it. then get a fllushing cover made from same stuff as kitchen bench.

Ring the company and ask for the covers for the dishwasher if they make them


or just make some new legs if those ones completely screw out go get some bolt to the same thread make them longer put some rubber feet on them and then get a flushing made still so u dont see bottom of dish washer and stuff doesn't go underneath it. This is the easiest way i think.
