Really you must be a timber expert

I tell ya what you put a piece of pine jammed in between your cabinets and we'll soak it and see what happens.

If you knew what you were on about you would know that chip board delaminates when wet and timber expands when wet. Now we are talking about dry timber not trees here.

Do you know how to bend a solid piece of timber??? no wel what you do is soak it so the celloulose fills with water and then steam it so you can bend it (littel bit more complex than that but we'll keep it basic) essentially the grain expands and with the heat of the steam it progressivley drys threfore you can manipulate the timber to bend with the "wet" sections being larger than the dry sections.

Besides all of this I said that the chipboard HMR or not is not waterproof but is resistant. Now HMR is no different to normal chipboard othere than the type of formadelhyde glue used to hold the chipboard together wich has some water resistant qualities.

Not a timber expert like you. Having spent 20 yrs in the trade and still working in it timber will not swell as much as shitboard/mdf. I do know how to bend timber but i don't think if you put a piece of timber in water and take it out the next day it will not change in thickness from 16mm to about 25mm like chip board. or has the chipboard not swelled just delaminated?

back to topic!!!!
Go with what ever is easier for you.

hey all - the DW shouldnt leak to begin with so im not concerned about that. (or do they??)

I will be using hmr chipboard first and take it from there.... its nice and easier and 32mm will help me out to raise it enough to do what i need.

thanks for all your help and I do really appreciate the feedback... will be installing it on monday

cheers

Exactly what I was thinking. If not, take one of the legs off and take it to coventry fasteners and get some longer high tensile bolts of the same thread and wack them on.

im a cabinet makes just use mdf. The dishwasher wont or shouldn leak n if you are worried bout water damage put a couple coates of varnish to seal it up.it wont get that wet to do damage. If it does ya prob gonna need alot of towels to clean up the flood lol. Or even better get marine ply problem solved. Had a marine ply bait board lasted ages.
