i had a modified 3.1.3 through sn0wbreeze, on an old baseband. Ive heard Spirit will not count as a jailbreak when upgrading to the 4.0, also your new baseband may not help. You could certainly try. You can restore back to 3.1.3 if need be.

Yep, i'm concerned because of my baseband version and spirit jailbreak.
I think i might wait over the weekend - and workout how to backup my hacked apps from the iPhone and iPad in the mean time.

the apps will be backed up on itunes regardless if they are legit or not. Just make sure when you do the sync with your jailbroken ipad/iphone that you have appsync installed in cydia. If you need any help, let me know. All this free time off now that exams are over.

Do you know if app settings and progress are saved that way?
I guess with 4.0 we'll need to install updated IPAs meaning we'll lose app progress / settings anyway...

I'll see how i go with the updating / syncing next week - gotta love uni holidays!

well so far my apps from 3.1.3 on 4.0 have kept there settings. I am notcing some jailbroken stuff not working, but thats to be expected. They have developed OS 4.0 to support iTunes apps on v3 firmware. Syncing with itunes will save app settings/progress.

That's good to hear. I'll let you know how I go on Monday/Tuesday.

If you have a 3G iPhone DO NOT upgrade to 4.0. We upgraded our work one and it's slow as fuck, plus you don't get the major additions anyway ie. multitasking. Bloody dissapointing.

You will only get multi tasking on the 3G if you jailbreak the 4.0 firmware first then do a restore of the modded firmware onto your 3G phone. Otherwise yes, no multi-tasking or wallpaper home screen. I presume it would run very slow.

lol i presumed you had a 3GS.

How did you do the update? you may be able to restore back to 3.1.3 then update with the custom 4.0 firmware.
