My wife is a pom and emigrated here on a defacto visa. The most important things immigration will want to know are:
1)how long you been together 2)how long you lived together 3)can you prove the above If this is some 3 month holiday romance and you've never lived together then you won't get a defacto visa and will have to explore other avenues. If this is a long term relationship and you can prove she will waltz in. She can get a student visa, but she will obviously pay through the nose. |

Pretty much as above even if you get married it will take more than 2yrs
for her application to be assessed not to mention the cost associated for medical and application fees and after 2 yrs they can turn around and still say no. But if she's here and you apply for a spouse visa she can get a temporary spouse visa whilst waiting for the answer but still costs appx $2k+ Wife's cousin is coming over from the UK as she's an accountant and people with skilled degrees have a better chance of getting PR. I took my mrs over 2yrs to get PR and we had a kid too so its no easy task. Hope this has been too much dribble, had quite a few bourbons

if she wants to come here to study, she will need a student visa which will mean that essentially she will pay international school fees and will not be eligible for domestic fees (full paying or commonwealth supported). on a student visa she could work 20 hours a week.
what course is she planning on doing? maybe theres scholarships available by the french government? if you want i can get her some more info. but if she wants pr, she will need to meet alot of requirements or you can pop the question. |

As long as both of you look genuine and have supporting evidence to proof your long distance relationship. Unfortunately this does not happen overnight, it would take some time to process the application. She might have to pay the full uni fee in the mean time during the process of application.

Jan - Everyone is taller than me! We didn't have any problems when she was here...
Chee - It's an architecture course. There is a scholarship available, but it would require her to be accepted into a particular university in Paris, which she said is impossible to get into. Like i said, the fee for an international student is way too high for her. No way that she could afford it on a part-time job. Sigh. Not looking good...
