Default Permanent Residency

Hey, fellas...

Anyone know a thing or two about the requirements? Had a quick look at the government site about immigration, but couldn't really find the answer i want.

My girlfriend is from France, and she wants to move here to study at Curtin. She also plans to get a part-time job to pay for rent, should she find an apartment. She's 19, and her english is very good. I believe it was the subject she was graded best at school.

Any info would help! I have no idea about it. I'm assuming it's not an easy process...

Oh, the main reason for moving is that the course she's persuing costs $19,000 a year! Fark. If she gets PR, she can pay the same fee as a citizen, which is significantly less. Perhaps some of you students might know some people in the same boat?

Cheers.

Cool

Don't think you can get PR just like that Huy, either shes gets married with you ORRR she has family members here to sponsor her ORRR she can come as a skilled worker.

If shes non of the above guess she needs to come in as a student like i did

but she can work 20 hours a week no problem, all she needs a working permit.

If you need any help give me a PM, been through all the shit.

It's been a while since I immigrated from the UK Huy (1986) but that figure of 19K is that based upon your gf being an overseas student??

From what I have read on the net you can assist your application of becoming a PR by acumulating points as a 'skilled' migrant.

I'm assuming you have read this: http://www.immi.gov.au/

Yeah, i figured it'd be pretty hard to get PR. The uni fee for overseas students is ridiculous. I'm guessing it's all those baller asian kids who can afford it!

I'll shoot you PM later. Cheers.

meet on the internet hey Huy.. hahahaha

Hmm on a serious note.. You need certain university points in which to get PR. Certain degrees allow for more points. However to get those points you will need to be a full paying student which costs bulk dollars i think. Even then you are not assured PR.

Another way you can do it, if your serious is get something called a trial PR resendency where she will stay in australia with you for a year and then you would have to get married.. hahaha Depends how serious u are.. wee wee

Yeah, i read about that. But she's only 19, just finished school. Been travelling for a bit. So no worker 'skills', so to speak.

She always wanted to move out of France and study abroad, and now that we've hit it off, she would like to move here. And, yes, that figure is for an overseas student. She can't afford that.

Not looking good thus far.

Sif i'm proposing, kents!
