Sweetwater (fresh water) licenses are going up to $85 each, with no combined license discount (I.e Trout & Marron combined).
They will be removing the "umbrella" licences with no discount across the board.

hmmm i still dont see how this can be reinforced, the government dont have the resources - just think of how many places you can drop a dinghy in the river, or back your boat trailer onto the beach....

I guess we will have to wait and see what the penalties will be from such actions?
Want to do a test run for us?

$405.

How many CAMS licences can be had with that? I know what I'd prefer to be doing.

Found this on the website..... can't remember when I last checked my pots and didn't wet a line.

NOTE: A Recreational Boat Fishing Licence will
NOT be required where an existing licensed
fishing activity (e.g. rock lobster or abalone
fishing) is conducted with the aid of a boat,
providing that the only type of fishing undertaken
on that trip is within the scope of the licence.

Also I am surprised a crab licence has not been created.

I think you're wong there mate. As someone who has lived in Mandurah for about 20 years I can categorically say that numbers are a fraction of what they used to be. Same goes for prawns and most fish down there.

I was prawning in mandurah a few years back when an old bloke in his 60s said something along the lines of "25 years ago we would come prawning and catch 25 kilos in a few hours. We caught that many we couldnt fit them all in the fridge when we got home and had to throw heaps out. In his very next sentence he says "I wonder why theres no prawns now, probably the Dawesville Cut"

Its a conditioning process and peoples attitudes need to be changed. Education isn't working, so why not hit them with a license fee for the privalege of recreational fishing.

About time they did something about the rapidly depleting stock levels to be honest. The view point of wondering how will this be enforced is the wrong one I believe.

I'm happy some form of proactive steps have been taken to address this issue that has been prevalent in recent years. I for one will be more than happy to pay for the required licenses and as a result in a number of years time hopefully be catching more fish as opposed to now.
