Good luck. Didn't think the good guys were Apple Resellers?

The general "margin" for Apple products it between 5-10%. This is why most of the sales guys will try and flog you Apple Care extended warranty. Having said that though, I think it's worth the extra coin.

I had a 17" MacBook Pro in here today, 2 months out of warranty with a rooted Logic Board. Replacement cost JUST for the board? $1750 supply only. Pay $1899 and you get a new MBP even if it is only 13". At least you get a fresh 12months warranty.

They are an awesome piece of kit - but holy shit they are expensive to fix.

I took my 23" cinematic in under warranty thought the power supply was rooted, turned out to be my graphics card, let the warranty go through see what would happen (was in its last week of warranty) warranty ran out while they had it, they replaced the screen and power supply and i got an extra 30 day warranty.

Not sure if they do laptops hey, though I bought my iPod Classic back there with a nice discount for paying cash (and a long line of white good purchases by my folks over the years)

Also a +ve for the refurbished products on apple store, same warranty, same item, just no retail packaging. Save a heap though

I would suggest that if anyone buys refurbished or new they do so with a Credit card that offers extended 1 or 2 years extra warranty on top of 1 year Apple warranty.

Far cheaper than Apple Extended Care Warranty.

DO NOT BUY 2nd hand off EBay.
I found out the hard way when my cheap Macbook's logicboard failed due to water damage from the previous owner after 5 or so months. It was still under warranty, but guess what Apple don't cover water damage and wanted $1100 for a replacement logic board...

My sister just recently bought a refurbished model. The thing looks brand new and comes with a full 1 year Apple Warranty as well. Very good price also.

Looking at getting some more stuff through it later on.
