Default Macbook Pro

Looking to get a new laptop for work and I think I might go down the path of a new Macbook Pro.

Anyone work somewhere that sells these and can help me out?

Cheers
Dougie

Besides the obvious eBay search you could try Apple's refurbs:

http://store.apple.com/au/browse/hom...ac?mco=MTE3NjY

It's usually pretty hard to get (new) Apple gear at any sort of a discount.

I've got a new 17" Macbook Pro (one that just came out at Apple WWDC), got it with student discount for just over 3.5K.

its sooooooooo fkn awesome, 8hour battery, with a full HD 17" LED display, and under 1" thick, and under 3kg, =win

what size are you looking at (which defines the spec you can get)?

What size/model were you looking at mate?

They now come in 13" sizes starting at around RRP$1899 I think.

The site don't lie:

http://store.apple.com/au/browse/hom...ro?mco=MTE4NDY

I've also found it very hard to haggle with Apple products, best thing to do would be go to Good Guys and see how much they do less for cash.

$1899 is very decent for a MacBook Pro of that kind. Still, you're paying a premium to go with a 'Mac' product.

Been looking at a 15' 2.66 which retails for about $3199. Might have to try that student discount

Try Cybershop in Northbridge - they just hooked me up with a new 15" 2.8 MBP for less than Apple RRP.

Dougie, the best deals you are going to find are from the Apple Website under their refurbishment program.

DO NOT BUY 2nd hand off EBay.
I found out the hard way when my cheap Macbook's logicboard failed due to water damage from the previous owner after 5 or so months. It was still under warranty, but guess what Apple don't cover water damage and wanted $1100 for a replacement logic board...

My sister just recently bought a refurbished model. The thing looks brand new and comes with a full 1 year Apple Warranty as well. Very good price also.
