I was once chatting to a bloke that drives these Tonka toys for a living...he reckoned that the female drivers damage less than the male drivers do

Serious question time....Do you ever feel like an 8 year old again when your driving this stuff?!?!

that dozer looks like its busted either a chain link, or the bolts that hold the chain link together thats used to swap the tracks on or off with..

As for female drivers, i figured that to be true as well before starting as an operator, but i can assure you, the women ive seen driving them, are as brutal if not more so than guys, as they usually don't have any mechanical understanding of things, yes some/a lot of them are less likely to go as hard as guys do when it comes to taking off, braking and turning, but the ones ive worked with went as hard as the guys, yet due to the lack of mechanical knowledge belted the crap out of the things, where as personally i drive the trucks as smooth as i can, gentle application of everything, gentle turning..

A lot of the guys do however take it for a race car and beat 5 shades of shit out of it, probably one reason my truck was the one that never ever had any faults, yet everyone elses did..

as for an 8 year old, yeah for a bit, the novelty wears off tho..

theres a lot of dollars tied up in that gear and i tend to operate whatever im on with that in mind, im insanely cautious about things, as even a bent panel is worth mega bucks..

anyone got decent job hookups yet? or is the market still farked, i don't see myself driving road trains for too long before hating the clowns i keep having to drive with..

Gregoriou (sp??) Group, looking for 4/1 operators for Karratha last I heard
etc etc

Some pics from my time on the big gear

While I was a leading hand at Cooljarloo I told the other leading hand taking over for night shift that his dozer op was ripping the wrong way along a face of rock. Didn't seem to care, story goes he put his seat belt on 5 mins before over she went. 80-90 ton of D10N dozer dropped off a 3m high rock bed.

Peanuts will always be peanuts. CAT D400 or articulated dumpy also known as a 'moxy'. Again from Cooljarloo.

One of the rocks I 'found' while ripping. That's a D9L with a rake blade behind it. You expect that shit up north but not at Cataby!

Dumbass scraper driver (are there many smart ones??) thought he could do some cuts near the water. Fail. That's a 657E and the tide mark would be about 2.5m up the machine haha.

MacMahons effort at one of the ports, forget where. They parked up a few trucks and a loader overnight. Just happend to be in the path of a stacker LOL This is why you should always park under lights.

And some other random photos from the interwebz
Big Hole

Big Truck, CAT 793, still not as big as TEREX gear

Big Fire LOL

Big reclaimer

Huge shovel loading a big truck

Big fuck up by the shovel/digger op blamed for this one. Big Rock Toyota!!!
