Default Bowrider searay or bayliner

I have been looking at boats the past few weeks as we are coming into summer.

My old man has a quintrex great all round boat can fish in the ocean do some skiing in the river or go for a cruise.

I have been looking at the Searay 185 and the Bayliner 185 has anyone had any experience with these boats or any other bowriders. How well do they go in the ocean with the swell.

fingers crossed someone here can help answer my question.

around the 45k mark + or - thats just for the boat not rego and stamp duty

I know that the Searay sport 185 bowrider cost 43990 and the 175 sport is around 35999

you can get 2005/2006 searays sport 185 second hand for around the 38k mark with the larger 4.3lt V6 and lots of extras

what I really want to know is how well do they handle in the ocean I would like to be able to go out past garden island and do some fishing or even a cruise over to rotto for the day. But as I have no experance I dont know how well they will take the ocean swell all the reviews I have read they are always tested in inland water.

That's because their boats under a certain length are built as lake / river boats..... Low free-board, low transom.

Something like a Carribean Belmont or a haines hunter would be a better choice.

Bowriders suck if the conditions go to shit, the canvas foredeck cover doesen't keep green water out.

Read some reviews:

Read some reviews:

I have been reading that site for about 3 days now. They have lots of good reviews but they don't speak about how the boat handles in the ocean if the swell pics up.

I will use the boat mostly in the river for a ski or a cruise but I would still like to have the option to be able to go over to rotto or out to see for a fish.

nice looking boat but not the type of boat I am looking for I have been in a center cab before and if your not driving you cant hide behind anything to stop getting wet.

I think if the bowrider wont be any good in the ocean then I will have to look at something like a second hand bayliner discovery
