In all honesty, I think you are just being a big poof. Unless your donga is the highest point in the camp on top of a big hill, you've got nothing to worry about with a pissy little antenna. Surely there is something much bigger not far away which is going to get hit first, mobile tower, plant equipment etc.

I've already fried one power adaptor which I'm pretty certain was lightning. That was running of a surge protector to so I'm a little wary.
