Try using a pota cot near your room/bed she will soon understand that cot=bed/timeout.

Slowly you can move her away (every few nights) from your first location to where you plan on having her sleep eventually.

I have used a traditional analogue clock with a secong hand (small alarm clock) with one of my worn OLD t-shirts so she can smell you.

Porta-cots can be bought secondhand at salvos or 2nd hand baby stores.

I have used this method with many dogs... not just my two.

Good-luck.

Don't give it too much attention when it is yapping, it may reinforce the behaviour.

Try the command "hush", if she responds with quietness, praise her and reward her. If she continues yapping, look away and ignore her, she'll soon realise that her yapping doesn't get any attention.

Be patient and in control. You're the boss. It won't happen overnight, but when it does, it's rewarding watching them learn.

If she continues yapping after a week, try squirting her with water when she yaps. It may deter her.

All of the above are good ideas - remember to ignore when she is misbehaving, and reward when she has done well.

but think of it from her perspective, she has just lost her mum and siblings, and is in a new scary house.

Be patient is great advice.

Id say ignore and it will learn, or keep it outside?

edit: It depends alot on the type of dog I suppose.

EXCELLENT tool, setting goes to 10, hers was on 2-3 (2 cannot feel, 3 mild tingle). The best thing I have ever used for training, she is an absolute champ now, never really need to stimulate the collar now. She actually associates the collar with fun time and going out and cannot wait to put it on and go!
She will do a sit / stay for 10mins with me out of sight a 100m away......

Before any of you god bothers start on it being cruel, check your facts.....

Its actually a positive reinforcing type behavior where when the command is complied with, the vibration stops. After a while she trys to beat the vibration ie command sit, stim, dog sits, turn off stim - you would be amazed when I was training how fast she would try and sit after the command. Remember that the stim level is similar to a moscuito buzzing
