Exclamation PS3 Media HDD: NTFS to FAT32

Hey guys

Would like some help from the computer gurus.

I have bought a 1.5Tb external drive for movies/tv shows etc to watch on my ps3.

The default file system type was NTFS but the ps3 only recognises FAT32.

How can i reformat it as per FAT32.

In windows 7, it only gives you option of NTFS or exFAT.

ive tried doing it in command prompt too. took 24 hours. at 99% complete it told me the file was too big.

see below for a sketch:

are there any program i can use to format to FAT32 on windows 7?

cheers

actually doing that method is pretty quick, you just throw the iso onto a dvd and hey presto.

Or give it to somebody with a mac, they could do it for you (FAT) not 32

you download ubuntu. burn it to a cd or dvd. then boot off the disc. it will ask if u want to try ubuntu without making any changes on your pc. select that. it will boot into a desktop. then you can format your hdd in fat32. its fairly easy/quick to do. probs 15min.

Download partition magic it too will create a boot disk from that boot the pc and format the drive. Has a nice little GUI
If Ubuntu doesnt work for you that is, not sure if Ubuntu will see the external drive straight up without installing kernal drivers

Everything failed:

-Windows 7 (no option to format to FAT32)
-cmd prompt (failed after 24 hours of formatting at 99%).
-Partition magic - not compatible with W7
-Unbuntu - ps3 didnt recognise FAT32 drive formatted in unbuntu

What did work?

this simple awesome program:

Anyone with a ps3 wanting to hook up a hard drive to watch media. you will need this as most drives these days are NTFS as it is considered superior to FAT32.

Good luck all.
