Default Anyone into R/C Helis?

I'm in the process of importing a number of these helis:

HK-450

HK-450 CCPM 3D Helicopter Kit
Modeled on the famous and proven T-Rex 450se v2.

Spec.
Length:660mm
Height:230mm
Main Blade Length:325mm
Main Rotor Diameter:700mm
Tail Rotor Diameter:150mm
Motor Pinion Gear:12T/13T (Not included)
Main Drive Gear:150T
Autorotation Tail Drive Gear:106T
Tail Drive Gear:25T
Weight(w/o blade):450g
Flying Weight:730~760g
Head speed: 3000-4500 rpm

Direct CCPM Swash plate
Belt drive tail
Auto rotation clutch

Required items.
Brushless Outrunner Motor & Pinion Gear
Servos
Gyro
Receiver
ESC
Lipoly Battery (2200mAh 3S)

I will be able to supply these heli's mid January 2010.

Looking at offering several options:

1. Airframe Kit only

2. Pack 1: (unbuilt) Airframe + 3800KV brushless motor & 30 amp speed controller + heading lock gyro + 4 servos

3. Pack 2: as above kit but Pre-built, gyro setup, heli trimmed ready to fly, just add your reciever & 2200 mah 3s lipo battery

There is currently nothing available locally that meets the price point we are aiming for. The hk-450 is a bigger/stronger heli than the twister 400 3d that is currently selling for $450 in Perth.

We will have all crash parts available in Perth.

Along with a multitude of upgrade parts available such as:

Carbon fibre frames
Complete alloy rotor head assemblies
Alloy blade grips
Alloy tail gearbox
Carbon blades
Carbon night flying blades (led's in the tips of the blades)
Carbon tail booms

All the parts on this heli are 100% compatible with the Trex 450 series of heli's at about 50% of the local Trex parts prices.

Note: This is NOT a beginners model! It is capable of full 3d aerobatics.

Anyone here into this?

Feel free to discuss

Look like reasonable quality kits.. Price dependent.

I tried the RC heli thing but kept crashing.

Yeah they're not easy to learn! I've been flying fixed wing since I was a kid and it's taken me 3 years to become competent with heli's (no not jesters type of heli!).

A Simulator is the way to go to learn to recognize the heli's orientation in flight and how to recover from unusual situations.....Way cheaper to crash & bash on a pc than with your pride & joy.

I have a copy of realflight G4.5 (with a 6 channel controller if you want to have a crack).

I have a 3D chopper an I cant fly it either so now it just sits in the cupboard, if anyone is into or buys one of these kits I will dig mine out and give it another go. I dont know anyone else with one. so lacking inspiration.

I bought some RC heli's whilst in Indo earlier in the year. Was going to start importing them in, but haven't really got around to doing it. I have 4 of the mini heli's which are great fun, especially around the office.... I terrorise my cubicle neighbours with mine regularly. Whilst there, my mate bought a decent sized one, which is great to control and flies really smoothly. This kit looks interesting Rossco.

projected pricing should be:

Kit only no electronics around $100
Ready built / trimmed with motor, speedy, gyro & servos (just add your reciever) around $250
Complete with 2.4 ghz 6 channel $350
3s1p 2200 mah 25c lipo packs $40 each.

***Pricing is speculative and based on projected exchange rates, import duties & freight.***

Looking into the possibility of a crash exchange program.....Buy a heli c/w electonics, you crash it and bring it back to base. We will supply you a new heli ready to go for $160. Saves beginners trying to rebuild a heli and avoid the associated setup foibles.

We will also be doing a Coaxial heli that absolutely anyone can fly successfully for approx $99 ready to fly out of the box (alloy frame, with led's for night flying).

The prototype Coax heli survived a 3 story fall last night after some pissy flying off a mates balcony at Ob rise in scabs......nothing broke......(his wife was flying it)
