Hammer used in Mirrabooka carjacking

POLICE are seeking the public's help to locate a car stolen by two men wielding a hammer who injured a motorist in Mirrabooka early today.

The theft occurred after two men on bicycles approached a pair of cars in Coronata Way about 2.20pm. One car - a Subaru Impreza - was occupied by two women, while the boyfriend of one of the women sat in the other vehicle.

The cyclists struck up a conversation with the cars' occupants before producing a hammer and threatening them.

The offenders then stole one of the women's handbags and the keys to the Subaru, at the same time damaging the other car and injuring the driver.

They then drove off in the Subaru.

Police are seeking the public's help to locate the offenders - described as in their mid-twenties with dark skin - and the stolen car, which is a silver four-door Subaru Impreza sedan, registration number 1CPG 856.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
