Arrow Aerobatic Flights

OK so the missus with her sense of humour gave me a gift certificate for an aerobatic thrill flight in an R2160, woteva the hell that is !! The pic on the brochure looks like somethin outta WW2. Flying with LCdr "Chuck" McElwee USN Ret. who will go through some loop the loop, spins, barrel rolls and the like.
Sounds inspiring yeh?

You even get to take off from the airport and do some of the flying (but not the landing). Excitement level can be varied to taste.

Booked in for Sat 28/01/06..... dunno if I'm lookin fwd to it or not!

Any1 else done this?

One of the blokes from work took his 2 sons on one of these flights the day they both turned 21.

He said it was amazing!! Apparently his youngest son suffered motion sickness, however his oldest son had a great time.

Personally i dont think i could do it. I'm TERRIFIED of flying. The hot air balloon ride i got for the GF for her 21st is going to be interesting.... As romantic as it apparently is, im dreading April coming (Balloon season).

It does look like good fun though. That is, if you dont mind the flying part

My dad is jealous now. He gets socks and undies for presents

mum bought one of those for dad, he loved it, they did zero gravity, stalls, dives, the whole lot, they pulled 4.5g's at one point

yeah i did one of those from jandakot last year. it's good. you'll love it. he ran me through the controls briefly at the start. i got to steer the plane down to the take off point and actually do the take off too. he leveled it all out for me and then i took over again. did a couple of left and right turns. then he took over again and the aerobatics began. barrell rolls, stalls - you name it, he did it.

one tip, don't have a big night the night before. i got a bit queezy up there

i managed to keep it together though and got through all his manouvres. great experience. hope you enjoy it

I am doing my aerobatics endorsment at the moment.

Chuck or "Chucker" is a brilliant pilot and really knows how to throw these things around.

Ask to do some Stall turns and Get a Cuban 8 thrown in, you will love it.

Awwww I would love that shit. Lucky man!!! My bro used to be a mechanic in the Air Force, working on F-111's and hawks. He got to hitch a ride in a couple of F-18's and F-111's during base to base transport. I was always fully envious.

A good tip would be to strap yourself in tightly. During my good old flight training days I did a loop to loop with my instructor and my seat belt wasn't securely fastened. Just as we were inverted, I kinda got suspended in my seat and dropped back down after gravity took over.

Barrel rolls are boring. You don't feel anything if done at a reasonable roll rate. But that's just me. First timers are different.

What you should request for is hammer head, gives you 1-2 seconds of Zero Gs. And Spiral Dives.

A tip for you would be if you find the pilot pulling too many Gs and you find it hard to take it, try squeezing your muscles on the lower body so that blood flow is maintained substantially to the upper body.

Thanx for the input/feedback guys. The positive comments are welcome, I'm looking more forward to it now. Always been a fan of extreme rides so this should fit the bill nicely; just hope I don't wind up on the 6 o'clock news!!!

Dan, I remembered there was at least one pilot on the forums... were you the one who orchestrated the rather involved marriage proposal thing a while back, using a plane, a stretch of beach & a quantity of seaweed?
