It's really weird dude, it sounds very much like a trojan.

What browser are you running?

I know MS sent out an emergency patch for some zero day viruses

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec...ate=2010-03-30

If you have ran Malware Bytes on a full scan, you have a normal virus scanner, you checked your hosts file, you have checked your network settings (control panel --> Network connections --> right click properties Local area connection & WLAN and made sure that everything is set to obtain address automatically including DNS)

I would start with googling your faults and see if anyone has had similar problems. I know there is a program called hijack this that helps find viruses.

Another trick I sometimes use it to CTRL+SHIFT+ESC (Task Manager) end all processes except for system processes and obviously ones that say access denied and then try and get into hotmail etc. If you can, it's definitely a trojan of some descript.

Another trick would be to get Safari and check private browsing and see if you can get in, this will also determine a IE/Mozilla Hack.

Let me know how you go and I hope something above helps you mate.

Bit late on the thread, but I have had this issue with some of my most popular websites as well, usually the ones that cop the most hits from my PC. I found a solution that works for me every time .

A couple that come to mind are eBay.com.au and TVU.org.ru Yet at the same time, all other websites I try to open work fine; and I can login to the problem sites on other computers.

The solution I found is to power cycle the modem! I have NO idea why this works but it does. As soon as I do so and try the problem website again, it opens with a bang; like some caching thing within the modem/PC config had maxxed out?

If ya go with firefox, as a last resort fall back to an earlier release such as 3.0 (or even 3.5 is ok I think...) coz version 3.6 has lotsa compatibility issues with 3rd party software - java, pdf reader, net usage meter etc. Haven't tried 3.6.3 as yet...

Also in case you don't know... if needed such as for your banking, you can still bring up an IE window with FF installed - just goto Start - Run type "iexplore", hit Enter.
