It will multitask in a week faggots :P

In saying that, I wanted one. Would replace the need for a small laptop for around the house stuff. i.e. sitting on the couch and want to wiki something or look something up on the net, check email etc. Would be good for video if you travelled away a lot too.

But the pricing of them puts them well out of the 'I'll use this just for piss farting around on'.

I think they were rushed out and should have come out with iPhone OS4.0.

Personally I hope the next iPhone is worth it, otherwise there will be a lot of people switching over to the alternatives.

I bought one a few weeks back. My initial thoughts were that I'd have no use for it but it has turned out to be an awesome gadget to have. It's a great browsing experience, the magazine apps are brilliant and the Bloomberg app is absolute gold (far more detailed than the iPhone version). It would be great for watching movies while travelling aswell.

I mainly use it for browsing the web while watching TV. It's replaced my laptop for lazy web browsing since it's always ready to go, it doesn't heat up, it's way faster (it's ridiculously fast over Wi-Fi) and has awesome battery life. I'd say that if you are going to use it for lazy browsing, travelling, or as a part of your media centre, then get one. Otherwise, I'm not so sure...

For those of you who think that this will replace your laptop - it won't and it was never intended to.

No chance. I don't have an iAnything.

I did buy a Kindle reader a couple of weeks back and I'm very pleased with it. Nice reading screen (e-paper, not backlit LCD) That's about the only thing I'd want an iPad-sized device for, reading books, and the Kindle does it better.

I just don't see the point of these.
I find it interesting that a company makes a product and the consumers are out to try and find a market for it. From this respect Apple are genius.

Fail.

It might have some remote use as a mobile graphics tablet. I doubt it has the computing power or storage capacity to run decent graphics software.

I think around the house as an interface, browser, music and image storage device, its pretty much a perfect lifestyle addition.

Agreed 100%. I got one the week they were release in the US and find it awesome. It is true that it is more for consuming data than creating it, but having said that the Pages (apples version of Word) application seems pretty good at first glace.

It will have multi-tasking when iPhone4 OS is released, but to be honest it is so quick at opening and closing programs I don't really need it at the moment.
