Default Santos Great Bike Ride

I'd never heard of this before but I've decided to put my name down this year:

http://www.greatbikeride.com.au/

It's a 10, 53 or 106km ride around the Swan River to raise funds for several worthwhile charities. 21/11/2010.

Some of the keen bike people on pwrx probably already know about it but I thought I'd mention it. I'm going to try the 53k ride (otherwise I'll need lights on the bike as I stumble home after dark.)

I've done the 53 before. Is awesome. quite a few woodducks out there though and very hard to form any sort of a group to get a rhyth going. Heaps better than the freeway bike hike.

Much more interesting and a couple of small hills aswell.

P-diddy group ride? not that we are competitive or anything?

I just ordered a new seat for my bike on the weekend. could of bought a nice bike for the same cost! carbon fizik ftw! Better be more comfortable than the one on there now!

Fizik Arione FTW. Not too bad for comfort given the lack of actual seat you get Upgraded the knicks as well which has made a nice difference.

Definately up for smashing out the 100km in the Santos.

have you got a road bike or on the mtb?

I bought the aliante. the Arione is supposedly for 'snakes' and the aliante is for 'bulls'. still just under 200 grams though so still pretty light.

Finally relented and got a roadie. Built up a Bianchi 928 piece by piece. Much nicer thing than my hardtail MTB for long road rides.

Sounds like I should be on the Aliante. At 87kg, I am not what you would describe as a snake.

Not sure about the fitness... Am hurting after yesterdays effort...

Am running Campag Chorus 11 speed group. Couldnt justify the extra drug money for the Super Record. Does me just fine. Teamed that with Mavic Carbone SL rims on the carbon 928 frame with Deda bars and stem and Fizik arione saddle.

Did a fitting session with one of the bike shops and seems well worth it. Feels really comfortable to ride and very efficient. Did 2 and half hours yesterday and wasnt getting any particular aches so all good.

Very Nice, good job on details, I like Campagnolo.
A fitting session is the way to go for every serious rider, it may feel awkward in the beginning but once you adjusted to that, you're in business.

If there is a P-diddy group going out I have to my roadbike back out again, currently sittin on Tacx rollers doing some in house training, can't get used to the early darkness in the southern hemisphere.
