that is a 4.0.1 custom firmware for the iphone 3GS. Hold down left shift and click "restore" in itunes and point the restore to that file once it has downloaded. This will only work if your iphone 3GS is currently jailbroken.

Doesn't a restore start the phone off fresh?

i.e. all the apps etc will be gone and need to be re-downloaded?

Yeah I have the same issues.. but only every now and then.. Since updating I lost the ability to send MMS though also which sux.
