Default Any Surf Ski / Paddlers on forum?

Hey I'm looking at getting myself a ski or kayak to start paddling....looking for another avenue to pursue fitness wise.

I know jack about these things so just wondering if anyone goes regularly and can share thoughts on F'glass over plastic and reasonable price for second hand over new.

Cheers.

I've done a little paddling over the years.

Go the plastic over the glass, at least if you are planning to have a play in the surf or rapids etc.

Fibreglass is slightly heavier and will sit better in the water, but a glass boat is much easier to crack or split than a plastic one - especially if you let your dickhead mates have a go.

If you are planning long distance paddling on flat water, get a longer boat, a shorter, more manouverable boat is better suited to the surf or moving water.

Fixed

I really think you need to see a doc mate. Kick boxing, eating healthy, road riding, trail riding, gym and now kayaking... Damn how fit do you wanna be

Going back a couple of years i had a plastic kayak i used to paddle between Trigg and Hillarys on calm mornings / arvo's. Certainly NOT for fitness, but the idea of catching big fish behind those reefs appealed to me. A lot of fun and if your game, there is always the paddle out to Little Island to snorkel with the Sea Lions etc.

Whats your budget? I have a few mates who deal with this sorta stuff, so i can suss them out.

Finn Kayaks also do a try before you buy at shelley bridge foreshore in reverton on weekends. Good place to get out for a paddle. Spirit are the other good brand of plastic boats.

I did....his name was Dr Nick

I'm thinkin around $1k.....probly a race ski as speed is good. If you can line somethin up that would be cool, and I'll check out that test paddle thing as well.

Cheers Fella's.

If you want to have fun on the water jet ski is the way to go but can be costly and it loves the wallet
