Actually due to Perth's geographical position in relation to that great big ocean to the west of us we have extremely clear days during summer. That means that the amount of measurable light we have in comparison to other capital cities is much greater. So although we might have the same sunset and sunrise time as a cities relatively close to our latitude we actually experience more sunlight in terms of brightness or intensity.
Funny enough I do met work at sea, the actual difference is bugger all.

Based purely on average sunlight hours for cities closest to our latitude

Perth 3211hrs year

Adelaide 2768.6hrs year

Sydney 2480hrs year

The insolation figures would disagree if we looked at total average irradiance for all three cities. I do believe that Perth has more days than any other Australian capital where over 100 000 lumens per meter squared are recorded for longer than 2 hours <--- this is considered to be a bright day.

I do agree that the brightness or intensity is higher than the others as stated in your figures, but it is only showing 100 000 lumens and over which can be effected by variables such as cloud cover ie. 1/8 vs 7/8 . It does not mean that we are having longer days.

Either way I have 2 kids who go to bed when I tell them, not when the sun does.
