Just wanted to know the reason why we need to pay associations before we compete on a track. I suppose it does make sense.

I guess if we have to pay extra to compete in a safe environment thats what we'll have to do. Seems like doing the right thing will be harder this time. , i wonder if we get subsidized for promoting safe driving on track.

Are there any similar associations for WA people? If i have to support an association, i wanna support our own WA one!!

, Thats the stereotype we're trying to avoid. Wanna have some fun with our cars in safe and legal manner. Although the FnF style seems more tempting now

just run track days with iPhone lap timers, then you can all brag at the end over a few beers... works well

Talk to Ashleigh at RAC/MC....they have events available at various prices depending on whether or not you want timde or not timed. For any timed event, participants will need either an AASA licence or CAMS L2 licence.
RAC can arrangte AASA licences. To get a CAMS L2 a person must be a member of a CAMS affiliated car4 club (eg IWRXOC).
RAC/MC will arrange event permits as part of the cost they charge you....ie timed event costs a lot more than non timed due to the increased cost of insurance.
RAC/MC is a AASA insured venue, not CAMS (even though it is a CAMS approved track)

Cheers Nauli

We've spoken to ashleigh, She has told us that we need a permit and club licence. I'm not sure what she meant by club licence.

And also, do we automatically get insurance cover once we get the permit? Does that cover for car damage and injuries? (touch wood)

How can a club get CAMS affiliation?

Nothing covers car damage.

A club gets CAMS affiliation by following the requirements set out by CAMS.

You need to have meetings, voted in members yada yada.

Here's the link to the club affiliation form. http://www.cams.com.au/Forms/~/media...ON%20FORM.ashx

If you are certain you want to do timed events like this, I would suggest doing a bit more research. All the information can be found in a couple of minutes on CAMS/AASA websites or by calling them to ask.

Club licence I would suspect means a club motorsport licence Cams L2s and equivalent AASA.

My question would be wy organise it yourself when RAC and other clubs organise more than enough timed and untimed events all year round.
Unfortuneatley in WA your limited on venues and this is where the expense comes in.

The insurance is for personal injury only. and some form of public liability

AASA is cheaper and was set up by a goup of guys over east in competition to CAMS in order to make it cheaper. so In theory AASA licenced event permits should cost less.

For the original question "buy" a timeslot on a skid pan at RAC advertise it and get your mates to go, once you have conquered that then have a go at bcoming a promoter.

I could probably make some software for lap timing you know... interface it with the website some how?

Just a thought if we ever want to go down that road.

CAMS affiliation can only occur if the club is Incorporated.

Antilag Motorsport Group are in the process of doing this, and we will be CAMS affiliated shortly.
