I spoke to Volks Osb Park about it on behalf of a client last week. She was charged $2,400 for her 100k service.

Yea but it will probably take me the better part of 10 years to get to 100K km so over the life of the car it is chicken feed.
Perhaps as a high mileage vehicle it might suck but judging by the difference on the consumption on the trip meter between me using manual mode and in D I think you'd make a fair percentage of that back in reduced fuel costs over a proper manual over 100K km. The DSG really wants to stick to 1700 rpm where maximum torque starts as much as possible and isn't slow doing it. Not many manual drivers will be that diligent.
