Euro Plate Question
Just considering having my custom plates remade into Euro ones ( stupid big front mounting on VW's ) and just about died when I saw the $1400 price.
Question is. I already own the plate " XXX ". I can't see how they can sell a Euro plate with that on it so would I be up for the entire $1400 for the Euro premium ones I need to keep the same plate or can I get away with just the remake fee and change the style? I know there were a couple of DPI employees a while back. Will save me hours if one of you can help.

I know what you mean about the ridiculous bloody VW plate holder, thats the only reason i got Euro's this time around.
I guess they can sell it with your 3 letters on it as it has to have the compulsory W at the beginning so the plate would actually be W XXX. A slightly cheaper option may be to just go with the 3 letter and 4 number combo at $819, you may then be able to use the numbers to signify your birth date aswell as your initials, that's pretty much what i did. |

Didn't think a government department would let you have anything reasonable without completely screwing you over for it.
The white on black looks good on the back just looks a little silly on the front. Think I'll just leave it be.

Get rid of the euro plate holder and put some small grommets in instead, or get them filled and painted, then screw your current plate in no worries.

i think he is talking about the massive space in the rear bumper to fit a euro plate

Nah the front. The rear looks good with the white on black plate. Have seen a euro plate delete for the mkv but really not that keen on respraying the front of a brand new car.

Hmm, i would say the grommets might be your best bet, otherwise just take the plunge on getting the bumper resprayed. GL with it. |
