Default Mechanic job (Cashy)

Hey all,

I have some french tourists staying with the family at the moment just before they head off on an around Australia drive in their dodgy van. The only problem is, the van has crapped itself, on the way to be serviced. We've spoken to a few mechanics (BP, Automasters) and all of them have turned out to be asshole trying to take advantage, what i'm really looking for is an honest mechanic to come and take a look at it and lay everything out for them. Cashy job in Ocean Reef (Can tow to somewhere if required).

Thanks for your time

Sorry, no can do. We're full until new year trying to get some long termers out the door.

Also, dodgy vans aren't my cup of tea.

I don't know who to recomend in your area either I'm afraid. Maybe give some more details of the vehicle and the problems and we can advise a better course of action?

Wait, Doug, are you suggesting he explains a mechanical problem on the internet, and seeks advise on how to fix/what might be the problem?

I guess the obligatory "Go see Doug" card's already been played...

Not necessarily fix it himself, but gain advice on who to take it to and what to expect.

If it's a 300,000km grey import Delica with a rod out the side then proceeding directly to Sims metal may be the best course of action. If it just needs some brake pads and tyres then I know someone who can help in the area......

Thanks for the advice guys!

It's a 1983 Toyota Hiace (Wow, I know.) They were driving it and according to them it just cut out while they were driving it and they were unable to start it up again. The engine doesn't turn over anymore even when it’s attached to a power source. Hope this is enough all, Please let me know if not.

Is there power at the starter motor, when you turn the key to "start"?
Can you turn the motor manually? (in neutral, with spark plugs out if necessary)
