My nitros are both Traxxas, so the needle settings are different, but a normal adjustment is only 1/16 of a turn, so your making big adjustments (4 to 12 times of a small adjustment).

the instructions indicator that I make 1/4 - 3/4 turns in quater incremements.

Use the instructions as a guide, I tune by temp and smoke.
You will always have a heap of caster oil coming out the exhaust.
Run it rich for like 8 tanks before you start to lean it out gradually with the HSN so you have top revs and still plenty of smoke.
Run the engine in properly and you will get heaps of use out of it, I have one that has had over 25L of fuel through it and gets thrashed, but good run in helped it.
