Default Where to stay in New Zealand

Hello

I'm planning a holiday in Queenstown and there are so many hotels to choose from I'm having trouble selecting one. Of course they all say great things about their own facilities and staff so just wanted to know if anyone had been and could recommend one. I would like to stay city centre and not be too far from the ski fields.

Thanks!

Plenty in town to choose from.. I'd suggest checking out wotif to get a nice deal on a 5 star pad.

If you stay anywhere between Queenstown and Frankston you're near enough to the ski fields. We went last year in a group of 10 people and rented a huge 3 storey house overlooking the lake. Cost wasn't too bad split 10 ways. Had a massive Jacuzzi and BBQ deck too.!

We stayed at a place just outside of Queenstown called Wanaka. Beautiful area and only about 1/2hr or so drive into Queenstown. Great burger place too, and puzzle world just up the road. We chose Wanaka because it was cheaper to stay there compared to Queenstown and less tourists. You can take a short flight over the snow into Milford sound as a day trip too. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Wanaka is more like 2 hours drive from Queenstown.
It's worth considering though if you want to ski Treble Cone and want a quieter town.

Nah, drive down that really steep rd that your not allowed to take rentals down and up around the corner. did a couple of trips to Queenstown while we stayed there. Either way, im still considering retiring there. Loved it.

Thanks I'll look into it, did you go to the minus 5 bar? Not to sure if I want to get a hire car as yet, as long as there are shuttle buses to the ski fields I won't need one.

It sure does look beautiful so I can't wait to get there!

Go for the Mantra Marina in Frankton. Recently stayed there for about a week while touring around. Ask for an apartment style room rather than hotel style room. Very close to skii fields/MTB'n, overlooking lakes and ofcourse the "Remarkables". Wanaka is not far - infact Cardrona is on the way and the road is good for a little squirt now and then. (below)

Be sure to spend a couple of days in Dunedin too, (my fave place in NZ), and CC as well, if you do the QT / Dunedin / CC triangle!

I have been 4 times to queenstown the best place to stay is the Sofiltel duke st. In the middle of queenstown close to the best bars, clubs resturants etc..the novitel is just around the corner and is the cheaper option.I highly recommend the hire car in queenstown! If u get into your golf go play jacks point close too remarkables I was seriously blown away by that place!!
