Default In Ear Phones

Ok, so it seems I have developed some sort of headphone addiction.

I never realised how much of a difference spending a little bit of cash can make to your ipod exerience.
I've always had a good set of cans for home use, but for my ipod i've only ever used the standard phones.
Those stupid ipod earbuds sound rubbish and never fit in my ears properly.
It wasn't until they broke that I tried some of the in ear phones, which create a proper seal.

My god what a difference. I just didn't think little phones could ever produce that sort of sound quality, especially bass.
I feel quite dissapointed that I didn't do this earlier as I've now realised I've been unnecessarily listening to shit quality music for years.

Now I've bought three bloody pairs and I want more.

What sets are you guys using?

I bought a pair of Sennheiser CX-300II's to start, then some Klipsch Image S4's and now some Monster Turbines.

Whilst I think the Monsters sound the best, the Klipsch sound very similar (maybe slightly more treble) but considering they were nearly half the price of the monsters they are much better value (mind you the monsters are still being "run in").

Has anybody ever had any experience with the much more high end phones?
Some of the Shures and Westones go for like $500+, which is just insane.
I mean are they really that much better?
The difference between $30 phones and $130 phones is huge, but does it get to a point where that extra cash actually makes that much difference?

I'm tempted to go for a slightly more high end phone (not 500 bucks worth) but maybe 200-250, even 300 if they are worth it. However I get the feeling that if I go too high end, I'm still going to be limited by my ipod.

so how much did you pay for your head phones?

lol i can't believe it has been bloody 10 years and i still have the same head phone! Its a Sony one and its the one that goes over your ears type, its been snapped in half and sticky taped back, no problems at all. the foam on the ear part has gone, but the sound quality is still there. The model number is MDR-G72

Post some pics of the ones you have if you can, interested in getting some. I don't know what brands are good, was looking at Bose but heard thier over rated

Heard the ones like the ear muff type are good + they have noise cancellation

BOSE = pay for name. A name which, to anyone who actually likes their audio, means nothing anyway.
I'm not saying all their products are crap (though the way they're made...), I'm just saying they'll charge you 50% more for their product and it's no better than the one sitting next to it.
Brilliant marketing and consumer unawareness/lack of education keeps BOSE going strong.

I bought some Sennheiser's when I 1st got to Australia (abotu 3 years ago) can't remember the model atm.. but they are the best headphones i have ever owned. they've stayed with me through multiple Ipods/Phones.

But they are getting a bit tatty now, so might be time to upgrade again. Will have to do some research for a good set around $200-250.

Talk to Marcus at headphones.com.au. They have a local number.

Anything Sennheiser or AudioTechnica.

Ive had my HD555's for 5 years at least, has served me for all my Pro Gaming, including my 2 Nationals in Melb, and they are still going like new!

I would get some good in-ear buds, but my iPhone socket is fooked.

for my computer i use Logitech G35's.. but they make my head hot so much prefer the in-ear ones. I also have a set of SteelSeries ones that i got free with my Asus laptop.. they're alright as a free set.

SteelSeries used to be the Icemat Siberias - SteelSeries mice and gaming surfaces are top notch, but... their audio equipment I never, ever rated.
