Very interesting interactive pics below, just move the blue bar left or right to see the before and after pics of some affected areas from the Tsunami.

Haha, champions.

I think i would need a few brews after the shit that has gone down over there if i was in their position too.

Despite the carnage, Kirin (owners of Lion Nathan Limited, National Foods, and many other huge businesses) are providing assistance in the shape of clean water and shelter for the people that have no way to get home, either because their house is gone or there is just no way to get there.

Everyone knows the Japanese are very clean, process driven (almost OCD type people) So for them to have their world turned upside down must be the HUGEST shock to them given there was absolutely zero warning (Or was there any signs??)

Unfortunately for our business, that is AU/NZ Japanese owned, - We've been fucked over.

Auckland Brewery - Earthquake
XXXX Brewery, QLD - Flooded
Kirin Brewery - Earthquake

Hopefully things are on the up now. The Japanese will get through it no matter what.

Unfortunately, the warning sign for the tsunami would have been the earthquake as the displacement of the crust would have caused the displacement of water in the first place. There are no real ways of knowing about an imminent earthquake, however knowing about any volcanic activity can be planned for almost days before an eruption.

Cheers

There was knowledge of increased earthquake activity but no way of knowing that it was going to be so strong or one causing the plates to move vertically which causes tsunami's.

Japan has more than 2000 earthquakes a year but they are mostly plates moving side to side.

There's always a backyard expert on TV after the event saying they 'predicted it' but no one listened.........

Haha true Dougie!

Like Wayne mentioned though, its the dip-slip faults that displace the most crustal area vertically which in turn displaces the water vertically.

Sorry, I'm not sure if you read my comment wrong or not (i do know of the P.H history ) but I was meaning it was 'sad' in that American's like that think that a Tsunami so devastating is just, because of something that happened in the past.

Jesstamic - That video was insane to watch. That person taking the footage has some serious confidence. I couldn't even think of how I would feel after seeing something like that happen before your eyes...
