Curious to know if any one knows the make/model of the reactor housing?

I can tell you that the Hydrogen comes from the accelerated decay of the Zircaloy fuel rod sleeves that house the fuel pellets (Uranium & Plutonium in these reactors) as they melt & the zircaloy 'gives up' it's absorbed hydrogen....Not a good scenario.

It's a sign that part of the reactor has suffered at least a partial 'thermal runaway'.

Let's hope they avoid a criticality accident.

Although not uncommon, i just read that a volcano in the southern region is now showing signs of erupting. They really aren't getting much luck at the moment!

So many contradicting media reports from different countries about the reactor situation, ABC 24 has live updates straight from the Japanese news channel NHK.

They had an interview with one survivor that got caught by the tsunami, he was pretty banged up and face was swollen from all the debris that was hitting and crushing him as the waves crashed into buildings etc, farkn miracle he survived it!!!

Another was the 70 man found floating in the ocean 10miles offshore on what was the remainder of his houses roof 3 days after the tsunami struck!!!!

Thanks for cleaning up John.

I don't believe it, but just read that an American navy ship on route to japan just turned away after detecting radiation 100km out to sea!

Surely if things were that bad we would of heard by now?

The wind is constantly changing direction of where its blowing the released radioactive gases so I wouldn't be suprise if it was found 100kms out to sea.

Originally the wind was blowing it towards Korea , Coma and Russia then south west towards Tokyo, the south of Japan and Taiwan then East out to sea again.

It's definitely around but whether its actually at a level that is more than the acceptable is a whole other matter.

They said inside the reactor control room it was 1000x higher than normal and outside was equivalent to one years safe exposure to a human but that was only when the #1 building went up the other day so who knows what it is now with 2#3 in danger now too!
