Default Which one, older bmw or new vw?

I am thinking the time has come to offload my Golf.

I have always wanted a R36 Passat as the next hot rod but since they don't make them anymore and I just can't find a good example of a used R36

I have narrowed my search to either of these:

BMW 530
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...cs=2&silo=1011

or Passat CC Oiler

http://ucn.dealernet.com.au/detail.p...&ucnid=4392917

Can anybody give any thoughts on mainly the BMW, especially age and it being at almost 50,000km. E.g Servicing or problems with the E60 to look out for?

I am not too stressed about the VW, I have had very small issues with my Golf and they have always been resolved and since I am looking at a demo, it will have new car warranty.

Cheers

530 is a lot of car for the money, if you can stretch to a 2007 model go for it as they had a decent update then. You also want the M-sport pack makes them look a lot better.

Don't know much about BMWs, but I sold my R32 & got a Passat. Couldn't find any R36s so ended up going for the V6 Awd one. Same engine as the R32. Great car to drive. Bit heavier than the R32 though. I think for the price the R36 is a great option. What about buying from over East? That's where I got from.

I was told when looking at the 5's that the way the front bumper is attached it is a right bitch of a job to repair. So if you go for the 5, ensure no crash history or dodgy fixups!
