how can you say "mechanically seems alright" without actually driving it, listening to the motor, work the clutch, hit the brakes, etc?

But yeah could be super dodgy!

Just means that whoever owned it either couldn't afford to keep it running/licenced, or they simply didn't drive it enough and forgot about it.

Must have been legit, it's sold!

I went and had a look abs light and engine light both on
looks car has had a respray with signs of paint run and the car was idling pretty rough
the guy was real pushy

Uhhh, I'm not an idiot, I think you're just doing your best to misinterpret me for whatever reason. Either way, I don't care, because I'm not on this forum to offer advice.

All I simply meant was the car in question had new parts in some key areas, didn't necessarily mean it was mechanically A1 and I certainly was not offering advice on whether or not to buy it!

The guy I sold it too said he had received inheritance and always wanted an sti so he thought he would add it to his collection. Seems as though he had multiple other cars, and didn't really care about it too much. Also seemed like a bit of a hoon, just judging by the pics, it looks like a different front bumper to when I had it. So probably hit into something and got it fixed up cheaply. Im a bit sad to hear that it has been run down, the first owner and myself took such good care of it, really was a mint condition sti, i sold it for 28k mid 2012, must have been really rooted to drop half its value!!
