G'day guys.

I was driving down Canning Road last night and there was a speed camera on the left hand side going towards Kalamunda (there was an old man about 4 houses down standing outside signalling people to slow down for it lol).

So my question is, can the new speed cameras ping you if you are travelling away from them?

Yes. Point of fact, the new stationary camera on the mitchell freeway only captures the car from behind.

idk if it's a troll attempt but:

If you read anything about the new speed camera's, it's that they're set up to catch all offenders in all lanes. Obviously they can't get the oposing side on the freeway due to too many obstructions in the very middle where the train runs through, but on any normal road, you'll get done.

No troll, just wasn't entirely sure if they did or not, and my short research session returned nothing lol.

They most certainly can get you from behind. They can be set up at any angle from behind trees etc so the second you see them it's too late (if you see them at all). Sometimes they give a visible flash, other times you will think you got away with it until you see a fine in the mail.

I've been done by one at night before. Rear facer, no flash. Got pinged hard.

Yeah the new red flashes are real tricky to spot.

Haven't been fined/pulled over or anything since I got my license 3 years ago, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get done anyway (zombie brains after the gym so I don't remember lol).

But yeah thanks for the replies.

They are using those infra red flashless cameras a fair bit more.
