Default Kwinana Freeway Speed Increase

Don't get to excited unless your down Mandurah way.

The new limit will apply from Mandjoogoordap Drive to just south of Safety Bay Road.

Kwinana Freeway Speed Increase

Freeway speed increase trial

It's a start though . . .

Mr Buswell said speed compliance and crash data would be monitored during the trial.

So I'd suggest we all don't go down there and "test it out" until it's permanent .

"I am very confident the trial will show that people can travel in a 110km/h zone safely down that piece of road."

Mr Buswell said speed compliance and crash data would be monitored throughout to determine the success of the three-month trial, which would establish if a 110km/h limit was appropriate.

I am pretty sure the 80,000 motorists who got caught travelling between 100 and 110kmh in a 5 day period WITHOUT INCIDENT (no major crashes, collisions, or deaths) by the fixed speed camera at Karrinyup Rd proves that people can travel safely at 110kmh!

Stop stuffing around and raise the limit along the entire length of the freeway!!

If they were to be merged, we wouldn't be able to make fun of you any more Andrew

As an extension of this trial, I would love to see the limit on the on ramps moved closer to the beginning of the ramp.
Most modern cars should have no problems accelerating to 100km/h before the ramp begins to merge on the freeway.
Hate getting stuck behind some one doing 60km/h when the ramp merges and it gets dangerous
sometimes.

Nah

Probably deserves it's own thread for discussion anyway.

It is a step in the right direction and hopefully gets our freeway up to a decent speed.

Unfortunately, my understanding is that to continue to get Federal road funding the states have to tow the line on the "nationalisation" of road rules and speeds. As such, the limit for an urban freeway is 100 Km/h. Hence, the area where the speed is being raised is classed as "country road". When the density increases around the area the speed will be dropped back to 100 again.

I believe this was the reason that NT had to take away their delimited speed country roads and revert to 130Km/h to placate the federal system to gain extra road funding.

Personally, country road speeds SHOULD be 130, freeways at 110, highways at 100 AND the keep left unless overtaking rule should be enforced, and enforced, and enforced !!!!!!!!

Oh and that one that everyone forgets - driving 20Km below the limit being illegal excepting when traffic conditions or weather dictates it to be slower for safety.

And this will happen before or after double demerits this weekend. My cynical guess is announce before, lift after, so some won't look for the signs and just expect it has already happened, and get pinged.

Good idea, but seriously, people need to KEEP LEFT unless overtaking.

At no stage should you be in the right hand lane doing 80, which seems to be happening a-lot more now. :-(

Yeah I was driving round the UK in January and the roads flowed so much better having cars only overtake in the right lanes. It also helps that trucks over a certain size are restricted in speed on freeways to 60mph and must stay in the left and centre lanes, whereas cars can do 70mph and use any lane.
