I pre ordered the iPhone 4s and it came two weeks later...from China. When I could've just walked into the Apple store a day or two after the release day and buy one.

So pre ordering does not guarantee same day delivery

Im not saying you will get it that day. My order has guaranteed between the 16-22nd of March.

All I'm saying is one with a personal touch with the lasered back and gift wrapping delivered to their door will be a nice present!. If i got a card with an apple receipt telling me i would be receiving an iPad in the next 3 days or so, i sure as hell wouldn't be disappointed!
If they are disappointed, tell them to have a cup of cement!

Ps: I also gave the OP an answer to his question in my first response (Harvey Norman City West). Just stating what i would do as well.... Chris is the only other one after 12 posts to actually offer an answer other than start another apple vs android debate

Find out what time on the Friday they are going to be released. For the iPad2 it was a 5pm release.

I would just find a JB's and ask them if they will be getting stock in. Less of a queue and has worked well in the past.

I'm hoping Apple Australia has learned from the 4S pre-sale how to deliver the stuff quicker this time. But I will bet that it will not arrive as quickly as heading to the shop on release day.

My order from apple store is estimated for 16th , I would just order online and avoid the hassle. like said earlier give card with a receipt for delivery date.

You have to remember, as a market, we are very small. Apple no give a fark for Australia.

Had a feel of one on display and the screen is good. Can deffinitely feel the extra thickness though.
