Default Car Finance

Hi All

First off apologies for another car finance thread, but this shit changes on a daily basis, so its hard to know whats going on from threads 3-4 months old.

Am in the market for a car, seems to be a good time to buy, but not a good time to take a loan. Best rate I can get atm is 9.5% (comparison)

Am hoping someone here works for bank, or credit union who can do something better.

Looking at 25k over 7 years for min repayments.

Thanks

J

Dumb question...

But what is the difference between 9.5% comparison rate and 9.5%? How much do you fork out of your back pocket?

Exactly, incorporates the fee's etc. over the life of the loan. And works out what the (comparison) 'interest rate' based on this. Establishment fees, monthly fees etc.

Repayment figure and comparison rate are the 2 things to keep an eye on. Don't look at the actual interest rate figure as it very deceptive when it comes to any loan (personal, or home loan)..

Just beware of the exit fees - previous loan raped me on the last car for selling before 5 years was up. Something like $3,000 penalty plus interest penalty. Now my first question is "what happens if I settle early".

ASIC recently regulated exit fees on personal loans, max exit fee is $640 prorata i.e. pay off loan in 2 yrs of a 4 yr loan fee is $320.
