Default To fix interest rates or have them variable?

Hi all

Have the option to lock my interest rates at 5.99% for 1,2 or 3 years or to have them variable at 6.23%. Can split them up also.

What would you guys do?

Thanks again

Just had Sam wrangling a deal for me. Good guy and knows his stuff. Pity my deal fell through but anyway the process seemed very good dealing with Sam.

A wise man once told me "The banks know what they are doing and where interest rates are going to go, fixed rates are a gamble that the bank would never sell themselves short on"

This is my current line of thinking.

It has a lot of merit behind it!

Unfortunatly not as many as there should be.

You can avoid it if you move somewhere cheaper. Far away from the city in an older style house. But most don't want to do that.

Someone once told me, if you can't afford the deposit, you can't afford the loan. It has some truth behind it, but it means proper saving for 3 - 4 years.

I've got mates who have $90k deposit for a house... some people can save, just not all of us!

Sam is a pleasure to deal with, I recommend him too.

Variable, at least until Sept, then look at fixing, before the FHOG comes back
