Good to see some progress on the old girl.
I'm off to pick up my "new" Mini sports sedan from the transport depot.
That will bring our current total to 7 Minis and 3 Mokes.

It seems like anyone who had a mini has crashed it!

My first car was a Clubman S. Had the Mini Lite wheels, twin SU's and extractors.
Love hate relationship with that car. Loved to drive it, hated working on it.
There's a lot of bolt on mods for those things that make them handle better and go quicker. The A series engine does have potential. Common mod is (was) to fit a set of extractors and a single 45mm Webber. Also replace all the bushes with Nolathane. Some better dampers will help too. Koni adjustable dampers make a big differernce. Even if you have the poxy hydrolastic suspension. Let it down and still fit aftermarket dampers (the bolt holes are there for the dampers on Clubmans). By now there must be a good four wheel disc kit to do away with the drum brakes. If you have to keep drums, fit the wider drums/shoes and wheel arch flares.

Great project. Used to race against a lot of these when I had my Mk1 Cortina. Awesome fun. I would think carefully about keeping it fairly standard or at least keeping mods bolt on (extractors, weber etc). For such a popular car there really aren't many on the roads.

Keep us updated on the build. Great choice for a home resto.

I also used to have a clubman S 998cc. Was a great car, loved it, but was let down by the four wheel drum brakes. Good fun though, delivered heaps of pizzas in it around willetton. I have done a few motorkhanas lately, and have thought of getting another one.
Have fun with it man.

Can remember cruizing around the North Island of NZ as a kid in Dad and Mum's little mini, Great little car's..

Even learnt to drive in a Mini panel van, parked after work one day and next morning had a note on the windscreen from local Po Po to ring then,
Rang them to find out what they wanted
And was told that " I had been spotted going to FAST around a corner " by a off duty Policeman..
To which I replied " To fast in a MINI YEAH RITE "
HAHAHAHA
