Linux Nerds.. any on the forums?

I have a 1TB HDD that I use as my main drive in Ubuntu.

I partitioned 250GB of it and left the other 750GB Dormant until I required it, the time has come to partition it and use it to convert all of my kids cartoons from DVD to MP4 for our media player.

I created the partition as ext4 and all was good, I even copied data to it. I shut the server down and started it back up as I upgraded the RAM and now when I mount it in Disk Utility I get:
An error occurred while performing an operation on "Kids" (Partition 3 of ATA ST31000524AS): Permission Denied




Can anybody suggest what is going on? Also I can re-partition this section of drive if need be.

Most likely its exactly what it says.

Have you tried mounting it from the Console as Super User / Root?

Xeon is the man to talk to about Linux I think.

Figured it out.

Turns out I needed to get the guid using blkid
5c7c9a1e-ff5b-4258-9fd0-133fbc3f6642

Then
modify fstab to have:
UUID=5c7c9a1e-ff5b-4258-9fd0-133fbc3f6642 /media ext4 users,user,owner 0 0 /media bind bind 0

then sudo mount -a

Bingo, thats fixed, then added to smb.conf for samba sharing and then modified /etc/exports to get it to share via NFS.

Oh linux you are so easy.....

I am finding it enjoyable but some shit I can do with my eyes closed in Windows is a xxx hour long mission in linux.

I guess once upon a time, it was also a mission in Windows too.
