Default need help with a work issue

hi everyone i have a bit of an issue at a warehouse i work in and need some advice.....
the problem is where i work it is busy especially because it's nearly christmas and in stores we are rushed to get things packed, boxed and sent off. So naturally a few mistakes are made here and there some are an easy fix and others involve swapping items with a customer on the other side of australia so freight charges are involved.

my boss is getting annoyed at these mistakes and has said from today if any more mistakes are made we have to work overtime with no pay to make up for it so if i forget to give a courier a box or i didn't know everything they're picking up and they have to come back to get it i would then have to stay back and make up for the amount of money it cost for them to come back.

what gets me is that recently i was being accussed of packing a box incorrectly but i am not the only person in the store packing the boxes so it could have been me or the other person i'm not sure and she came out shouting at me saying how could i make such a stupid mistake and the correct item had to be sent air express for $300. Now that would piss me off too but what annoys me is that she made a big mistake a few days later in the office confusing an order for a customer and in the stores we packed the order she gave us, sent it off to darwin the the customer called and said it wasn't what they ordered and she trys to blame us in the stores

i do enjoy where i work but the attitude the bosses have can make it less enjoyable ,no matter how many times i come in early or stay back late the one time i am late that is forgotten same with the mistakes i could go ages with getting everything right but when a mistake is made that is all forgotten.

sorry it's a bit to read thought i would put all the info instead of boss is a *!%*# help me.should i go to fair work aus or accept when i or someone else makes a mistake i have to pay for it so any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Its illegal for them to force you to work for free unless you've signed a workplace agreement.

She sounds like a bully cat and if it was me and I made a mistake id apologies, admit fault where its due. I would never work overtime to the amount of 300 bucks for nothing.

Stand up for yourself at all costs IMO but don't be arrogant about your mistakes.

I work for a unionized company and shit would hit the fan on a national level if we were even threatened with that.

If you don't like your boss, then kick her in the cunt and get a new job.

Hmm i thought it would be illegal and when i do something wrong i'll own up to it but mistakes are made and i don't want to work unpaid overtime and she is on a power trip big time the way she talks to me sometimes is like i'm a piece of dirt.

As mentioned it is illegal. Best to bite your tongue and smile. If you are asked to work overtime for the next fuck up then simply say no. Xmas is only a few weeks away, look for a new job in the new year.

Have you read the terms of your employment? If not, then do. There's no blanket rule. As per my terms of employment it states that I "May be required to work reasonable hours overtime".

Dans idea is good too...
