Couldn't agree with you more Fobz. Traffic calming, read right turning car stops ALL traffic, cycling lanes (not that the Lycra crew rides single file) etc do nothing but make the movement of vehicles more and more difficult.

Add on to that a highly inefficient (read non existent) public transport system equates to "fix the road system" rather than hide a congestion tax under the term of "toll" which it isn't and never will be.

I blame all governments that engage in difference as a method of policy causing all decisions making to be short term.

It's about time that politicians support long term infrastructure projects in a bipartisan manner not a political football.

I don't go in the city ever anymore.

Thank fuck for that :-)

Parking is one of the many reasons why.

Troy "Chair Sniffing" Buswell came out yesterday & said:

Quote:
"We understand that a congestion charge is a tool some jurisdictions use to tackle congestion challenges," he said.

"We think we've got a range of other investments and initiatives in place that will help deal with congestion so toll roads effectively are not on this Government's agenda."
Source: Buswell gives further assurances that toll roads will not be used - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

This thing has been blown way out of proportion, only due to one body announcing the idea/notion of toll roads being the next horizon for WA drivers to the media (Media hook line & sinker to the public)...

I agree strongly with Andrew's view here :

That's the whole idea of narrowing and changing the road system in the central city, they want you to park and ride.
