The camera takes 2 photos, which is just incase you slightly went over the line but indeed stopped. The first photo is when you trip the sensor, the second is to see where you are. If you are in the middle of the intersection, you end up with a nice fine.

Sorry to tell you, but there's not much you can do to get out of it. Since the red light camera works on a sensor under the road, rather than a radar beam like a multanova, if three people went through, three people get fined.

yeah taking two photos would make it easier to determine which cars actually went through, would get rid of any confusion.

They will probably follow the Eastern states soon too.....and cop you for speeding at the same time as running the red light.

With the two photos, they can tell how fast you were going by marks painted in the middle of the intersection...they work out the time and the distance travelled between the marks in that time, to get your speed.

the only way you can really get out of it is if you were driving a heavy vehicle or were towing something.

I wish that still worked...

You now need to nominate a driver for a company vehicle (can't just throw the fine out like before) and there is a $5000 fine if you do not keep adequate log books stating who was driving at the time.

But this is not revenue raising...

The best part is, if a small business owner does not know of these new rules (and its not like they are handing out pamphlets or what not) he/she can be stung with either the fine and demerits and/or another fine on top of that for not keeping adequate records.

So once again we are all guilty until proven innocent.
