Default Windows 7: internal server error ?

Second issue my laptop is about 3/4 years old and has served me well and has all the bells and whistles I would need but it appears to be getting a bit long in the tooth and may possible need to be rebuilt or have a much smarter person then me run the rule over it and fix it's issues.

Is there anybody on here would could help or point in the direction of someone good to goto.

Cheers Taylor.

Not sure on the networking stuff, never been good with that. Tried removing it altogether from your network list and trying from scratch I suppose?

No need for your laptop to be 'rebuilt', especially being as modern as it is. Clear your start up programs, get rid of programs you don't use because they often have helper services and such always running in the background (itunes is notorious for this), defrag the hard drive, check for any viruses malware etc.

If that doesn't help then throwing in a $100 SSD is the best thing you can do to get good gains on the responsiveness of a computer. Loading times and general snappiness will improve immensely over a HDD but you do lose storage space. Typically $100 will buy 60-80GB which is enough to satisfy the needs of most laptops, though some do need the storage.

RAM is another good one, especially if you're only running on 2GB. Contrary to old popular belief RAM doesn't only benefit you if you're already running out of what you have. Windows isn't entirely stupid, it will ration out among its resources as it needs. If you have 2GB then it will get by and leave space available, but things will move a long a bit slower. 4GB is a good point for laptops that browse the web etc.

^Ignore this paragraph entirely if you already have 4GB of RAM.

What I have done
Turned off computer

Disable and re enabled port
I am getting an IP address
Released the IP config
Deleted cookies and emptied my cache.

Running out of ideas on what to try any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is what I would do...
1) Confirm make and model of laptop (as to confirm availability of drivers for OS of your choice, assuming Win 7)
2) Purchase a SSD of your choice (extra ram is always a good thing)
3) Copy any data held within your login into a folder on the root of the drive (so that you can put the current hard drive into a external usb hard drive caddy) so that it can be assessed when the new hard drive is installed
4) Install new harddrive and setup Windows from scratch.

Might be hard to the novice, but you can easily do all of the above within 1 day (including activating Windows and putting on all available updates).

I could look at this for you in a couple of weeks time when I'm back on Australian soil, PM if you want to chase up this offer.

Soksta will certainly get you going in the right direction.

As an added bonus he will remove any creaks, squeak or rattles from your laptop at the same time.

Much <3 Soksta. :P
