Default small building reno

Hi Guys,

I am looking to see if theres any builders on here or know of someone to do a small reno. I.e open up an existing space with a larger lintel. A t-style lintel would have to be used. So wondering if there is a way around having to remove the entire wall to install lintel then re-brick.

Any help appreciated.

Remove wall, put up new lintel and close off with French doors

existing wall penetration 101:
1. bolt block to wall with through bolts
2. prop each side with acrow props
3. remove horizontal bed joint with angle grinder
4. install angle lintel
5. do vertical cuts
6. remove bricks
7. plaster to make good

heres a mid progress shot of my kids play room i did myself:

rendered up with plasterbeads

for a double cavity wall use 2 angle lintels, 1 for each leaf

you only really need a T lintel for a massive double door garage or the like
RUSSGT, mARC and amtrapid like this.

Chris now that is a great idea bolting through the wall. I think that will solve my issue of having to knock the wall down imo.

I was planning to do it with my carpenter mate but he wanted to knock the wall down. I wanted an alternative ha

my ceiling heights are 3.3m and the size of the opening is going to be 3.5 long ha

Tristan has come and looked for me and engineered a t-lintel as angle lintel dont come in that size.

Heres a pic of the opening. The lintel is going to be 3 courses down.

ps ill send you a msg on FB in regards for some drafting

You need to call a guy called John Van Der Loo - Shift - A - Wall.

Don;t be a douche and he will look after you.

This is all he does and very experienced.

yeah thats alot more involved than i'd expected, Tris obviously checked up in the roof for any loadbearing beams lobbing down on the brick in that area? have a look at subi hotel next time you're down there, we created wall openings & used a couple of PFC's as lintels, they sit flush with the brickwork and it makes them a feature, i recon it would look good if your going for the industrial chic look

Wide body extension? Should look bespoke when done ;-)
