Trip to USA
Hi all,
Planning a trip to the USA next year and after some opinions and suggestions of where to go, what to do etc. Initial plans are to do the road trip from coast to coast - either rent or buy a cheap wagon. Haven't decided on a full time frame yet but looking at the month of June or something. Please share your good or bad experiences below! Cheers, Jeremy |

Large thread on Antilag Jezza about just this kind of thing. I think you're on there?..
Have fun on your trip -- I'll be planing my own in a few years. Big place to explore!

Start by making sure you spend at least 5 days in New York City, and avoid Los Angelas like the plague. San Francisco and Lake Tahoe are the places to see if you want to do California. Dallas Texas is a good friendly place to visit. If you like sports then go in Sept -December. Avoid the USA winter as its a bitch to travel easily. I would rent a car not buy a used one.

From what I have found so far, that is probably the cheapest part of the country to fly to. Would ideally like to go to a baseball game and a basketball game. Not too sure what route to take across, or what areas are 'safe'/tourist friendly? |

LA devoid of any sole. Fly in there if you must but be prepared for rude yanks, long lines, shit service, and loads of dodgy shit going on. LA is the Western most International Airport in the Continental US and for years the only place people flew into from Oz.
Major League Baseball goes from early April to October World Series, where as NBA starts in October and runs to June. LAX - VEGAS - Arizona - New Mexico - Texas - Louisiana - Florida would be my suggestion. Other major cities would Chicago / Washington DC / New Orleans / San Francisco for sure.

Highly recommend Austin, TX. Great place, hot chicks, good music, F1, guns, Tex Mex, BBQ, hot chicks, great people.

As Dave said San Fran is mint, we spent 3 days in Anaheim for the theme parks and went in to LA for a tour on the bus and that was enough. Crazies at Venice beach was worth the trip but it's more just ticking off the boxes if anything.
Vegas was cool even if I was dragging around the wife and two kids but 2 days was enough, more if I was out on a bender. If you can pop up to Vancouver I'd highly recommend that.
