i've had the same dyson for about 12+ years and the motor just blew this week, its going in for reapirs next week, will let you know how much the new motor costs LOL

dyson initially costs more obviously but are repairable, heaps of accessories available too

cheapo china shark will be a throw away affair if anything breaks or burns out

Have had a Dyson upright for about 2 years and are very happy with it. They are expensive but you do get what you pay for. Build quality is excellent and doesn't have the cheap feel to it that the Shark does.

Am using a Vax power 7 Pet Cylinder for when i'm house bitching
Does a great job for cleaning and picking up all the short pet hair from dog

Dyson Upright DC41 Animal for me for the past year or so.
It's sexual. (Or so the Missus tell's me, it's her job after all )

We have a Dyson upright, it around 9yrs old now, great machine been super reliable easy to clean/service etc and still works like new..
